It’s near enough to September that the love bugs are back.
Cars all about the Deep South are decorated with smashed bug bodies.
Nasty little critters, with their libidos out of whack, swarm everywhere. At every stop light, they crawl on your car windows, as if, begging to be let in.
The worst, their acidic little carcasses, corrode automobile paint, if not scrubbed off.
Futile as it may be–my love bug traps are out. At least I’ll snag a few. For those not familiar–love bugs are attracted to white.
A white bucket with an inch or two of water in the bottom; with blue “Dawn” dishwashing liquid; works as an attractant.
They swarm, fly in, drown in blue soapiness–bwa-ha-ha-ha. There’s satisfaction in doing something.
My other, least favorite bug-a-boos–fire ants, are here year round.
