“Neither one of them boys has done a lick of work,” Uncle Nabob said to Aunt Hortense.
“Better make ’em some dinner–they’ll still be hungry.”
Both of her two nephews were dumb as hammers. And, that was giving hammers too much credit.
“Give it another lick,” Uncle Nabob said to nephew Ellis–who was splitting wood. “Put your back into it.” Fletcher, the other nephew, watched from the ample shade of a large hackberry tree.
