Road Dust

It’s been so rainy lately, I need a little road dust.

mailboxWarm days
Long walks
Bike rides
On dusty
Roads, greasy
Bike chains
Fenders rattled

Windsprinted to
Hell and back
Chased will-o-the-wisps
Among Kaleidoscoped
Flowers and dreams
Furry little dog
Close at hand

Opened, slightly
Bent and faded
Mailbox door
Cautiously peeked
With just one eye
Sometimes creepy
Things, lie
Hidden inside

Mail in hand
Door slammed
With alacrity
Distinctive flair
With a vengeance
Off, to something new

Childlike innocence
From the past
In present times
That, seem to
Have gone
Slightly askew
A little dust
To sooth
The soul
