When Tumbleweeds Came to Town

A lot of people grumbled, many of them frowned–the day tumbleweeds came to town.

They came from
Nameless plains
Bounced, tumbled
With the will
Of the wind

Blocked highways
And byways
Battered everything
In the way
Thunder rumbled
People grumbled

Prairie winds blew
For how long
No one knew
Dust choked the air
People trembled
In fear

Stood their ground
Ran, or
Turned around
The day
Came to town
