DEAFENING SILENCE

_________________________

He walked in as she walked out

There wasn’t much to talk about

Hi, how are you?  Have a nice day

How had things turned out this way?

–What was given, taken away–

Perhaps it was better that way?

Painful memories, wasted passions

Mere words read in monotone fashion

–He got taken for one wild ride–

Elevator music made him tired

The cold emptiness of stone halls

Words echoed between the walls

–Forgive and forget, play the part–

How did one hide a broken heart?

Thoughts to be kept locked away

Now, there was nothing left to say
